Hey Truckies,

We made it! We're here, live bloggin at the Halifax Food Truck Party.

What an amazing turnout. We decided to partner with the other coolest food truck at the party. So we're right next to the "Cheese Gypsy." And we've been thinking; "what would be the perfect compliment to their incredible grilled cheese delights?"
Let's do this...

Jacob's Cattle Halifax Baked Beans

HELLOOOOOO Halifax!

We borrowed a traditional baked beans recipe for a old Nova Scotia cookbook.

Grab a Dutch Oven.

1 pound Jacob's Cattle beans. These are heirloom beans now but were used in the past.
Soak the beans overnight.

Then drain and add...

1 whole peeled onion
1/2 tablespoon dry mustard
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses (we add more)
salt and pepper
Chopped up Bacon; as much as you like

Then add water to cover.
Cover and place in the oven at 275-300.
Check every hour or two to make sure there is still enough liquid.
Bake 6 hours.

Thar ya be; partygoers!

Here here is a combo delight:

And we saved the best for last. We brought someTrappist Ale from Massachusetts with us. The crowd is loving it!

And the Cheese Gypsy put a Cosmic Brownie in their basket.
